Men's Prayer Breakfast March 2008

We would like to thank the men that came to the Men's Prayer Breakfast. It was a blessing to have over 70 men coming together to pray. We thank the Pastors and men of the churches and organizations that came to fellowship together and worship our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Pastor Vince Messa from Standford, Connecticut preached a powerful message on "As the man is so is his strength". His points of submission, humility, supplication, and sacrifice and how it applies to Christians was a reminder of where our hearts should be. Two men of twelve that came with Pastor Darrell Calhoun from the Salvation Army, Brian Pollard and Tony Schimpff, asked Christ to come into their hearts. We want to welcome them and pray that they will continue to walk with the Lord. Below is a video of the blessed event, enjoy, God Bless.

No Right To Homeschool Children

Friday, March 7, 2008 the San Francisco Chronicle posted a story of a California Appeals Court ruling clamping down on homeschooling by parents without teaching credentials. This will affect 166,000 children as possible truants and their parents at risk of prosecution. The link for the story is http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/03/07/MNJDVF0F1.DTL and you need to read it. This is a prelude to what will eventually be the state having control of your children. Quote from the Judge in a 1961 case "A primary purpose of the educational system is to train school children in good citizenship, patriotism and loyalty to the state and the nation as a means of protecting the public welfare,". And guess who supports this type of reasoning "We're happy," said Lloyd Porter, who is on the California Teachers Association board of directors. "We always think students should be taught by credentialed teachers, no matter what the setting".
Now how did God ever get children educated before the State of
California and the California Teachers Association was around to supervise it?

Deuteronomy 4:
10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Deuteronomy 11:19

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Deuteronomy 31:13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

Psalms 106:35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

Daniel 1:17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Its amazing that we can have President like Abraham Lincoln trained in the home yet today make it illegal. You also do not see teacher associations speaking of the home schooling results compared to the results of their work. Then let us while consider the amount of resources public teachers have. I found some interesting facts about home schooling to look at them all go to this link: http://www.internetcampus.com/plume12.htm

More than three million school-age children are now being home-schooled. The number has been growing at a steady rate.

In 2002, the average SAT score in the United States was 1020. But for home-schooled children the score was 72 points higher.

In 2004, home-schoolers averaged 22.6, on the ACT test while those in regular schools averaged 20.9

However, we need to add that only the most devoted home-schooled children take these tests.

Some well-qualified observers of the educational scene are now openly debating whether for many bright young people public education isn't doing more harm than good.

I know that there will be an appeal and this will go round and round in the courts. I guess we will just have to keep fighting these things until the Lord comes back for us. Let us Pray to the Lord and give thanks that he will preserve his Word. He will be our God and we will be his people. Amen.

Ministry Updates

Today, most of us get up in the morning and either read the paper, listen to the radio, or turn on the television to get our news. There are news reports for all kinds of breaking stories in the Nation, State, and Local areas. The news is on Sports, Politics, Crime, Weather, Road Work, Theater, and even every day Living. Yet the common news throughout the day that we hear seems sanitized. Important issues seem to be hidden, or partially explained. Our Ministries that we support give us information and news that will not be in the typical places where Americans get their news. As Christians supporting Christian Ministries we need to get their news and information through their websites, newsletters, and newspapers and tell others about this news. I like the picture on the Freedoms Alert newspaper. They have Paul Revere on his horse riding and giving the warning the British are coming. In that time period that was how the majority of the news got around from one person to another. The wonderful thing about this today is you still can get the news out by this same method. With the aid of copy machines, fax machines, and email its even more efficient. We need to get the word out on who are the people we vote for, the companies we buy from, and what our governments are planning to do in the future. Support our Ministries, get their news, and email them your support.
